2025 Choral Music Education College Scholarship Recipient

MSVMA is pleased to announce the selection of Ava Davidson as its 2025 Choral Music Education Scholarship recipient. Ava is enrolled at the University of Michigan and will receive a $10,000 scholarship over the course of her degree. She graduated from Spring Lake High School where Aaron Polet was her choir director. She sang with the stellar SSAA performing group, Belle Voce, grades 10 to 12. Ava was recognized at the Summer Conference.

Ava experienced significant success in MSVMA’s Honors Choirs program, District and State Solo and Ensemble Festivals and Musical Theatre Solo and Ensemble Festivals throughout her high school years. She attended the Choral Student Leadership Conference and Vocal Jazz Intensive. An active and involved student, Ava took part in a variety of extracurricular and volunteer activities.

In her application for the scholarship Ava shared, “During one of the busiest weekends of my life I realized how I wanted to spend the rest of my life. It was January of my junior year, and I was participating in MSVMA honors choir and at the same time it was the show weekend for the middle school musical I was interning for. I had to miss one of my kids' shows for honors choir and felt as if I was leaving them hanging. On my way home from honors choir, rushing to see my kids for their final show, I suddenly realized how teaching these kids was combining my two favorite things: mentoring and choir. I wanted to do it forever. The next day I was researching music education majors, colleges, and programs. I finally felt like my life had direction and purpose. I saw my future, what had once been blank no longer was.”
