MSVMA is proud to feature many ensembles at the annual Michigan Music Conference, including at our  Specialized Choral Hour. We are privileged to showcase two ensembles each year, chosen by a blind panel of vocal music professionals. Specialized Choral Hour also features our All-State Jazz Choir and two Musical Theatre soloists chosen from our Musical Theatre Intensive. 

• Open to 'non-traditional' choral performances, including but not limited to Jazz, Pop, A Cappella, Gospel, Show Choir, Musical Theatre, Barbershop, Non-Western traditional, and other alternative genres.
• The selected choir will perform 15 minutes of music at the Michigan Music Conference, at the evening concert in the JW Marriott Ballroom and will precede the MSVMA High School State Jazz Honors Choir.
• HS Choirs: Two selections must be from the current school year. The third must be from one of the two previous years. At least one of the three selections should be a cappella if available. We understand that this may not be applicable to certain styles. 
• MS Choirs: Two selections must be from the current school year. The third must be from one of the two previous years. At least one of the three selections should be a cappella or a cappella with non-pitched percussion if available.   We understand that this may not be applicable to certain styles. 
• Students must be members in good standing of their school’s vocal music program, as verified by the director of record under the official MSVMA school membership.
