• Participation in Honors Choirs is by audition for students who are members in good standing of their school’s vocal music program, as verified by the director of record under the MSVMA school membership.  
• SA Honors Choir is organized for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.
• SSA and TTB Honors Choirs are composed of 7th, 8th and 9th grade students.

Each school can send up to 32 singers, but no more than 24 singers per SSA, or TTB ensemble or 16 SA singers is allowed.  

• Regional Auditions will be individual online auditions for a fee of $15.
• Students will submit one video audition.  Online Auditions Helpful Tips and Guidelines
• Singers will select the choir they are auditioning for SA, SSA or TTB and learn the appropriate audition song that coincides with their choir.  The SA and TTB will audition with the accompaniment and SSA will be a cappella.  
• Singers auditioning are required to attend the rehearsal with an Honors Choir director in a clinic situation and perform in the regional concert to be considered for the State Honors Choir. The clinic and audition pieces are to be prepared in advance of the regional day. The audition piece is to be memorized. 
• Audition results, forms, and general information will be emailed to the directors within three working days after the regional performance. It is the director’s responsibility to print as many forms as necessary for singers. Music will be given out during the first rehearsal.

6789 State Honors Choir Attendance Policy

1. Once a singer is selected for a State Honors Choir, they are required to attend ALL rehearsals and performances. Please review all rehearsal and performance dates BEFORE committing to the State Honors Choir to ensure you can attend every required event.
2. The ONLY excused absences are those due to illness, personal/family emergency, or conflicts that were communicated and approved by the supervisor prior to registration. Prior commitments NOT communicated and approved by the supervisor prior to registration will be unexcused and result in the student’s removal from the choir and their school will be placed on a recommendation list for probation for the following year.
3. In the event of an absence due to illness or personal/family emergency, students should contact their choir director, NOT the honors choir personnel, and explain the reason for the absence. Their choir director will contact the appropriate honors choir personnel and explain the reason for the absence. If no contact is made within one working day of the absence, the absence will be considered unexcused and will result in the student’s removal from the choir and their school will be placed on a recommendation list for probation for the following year.
4. A singer with more than one absence for any reason will not be permitted to participate further in State Honors Choir for that year. A singer with an unexcused absence will not be permitted to participate further in State Honors Choir for that year, and their school will be placed on a recommendation list for probation for the following year. If the same school has an additional unexcused absence or violation of State Honors Choir guidelines during the following year, the Board of Directors may invoke a one-year suspension of that school from all Honors Choir activities. 
5. Following an absence, students are subject to observation and testing by Honors Choir personnel to ensure they are prepared and not falling behind. If it is determined they are behind, it may result in the student’s removal from the choir and their school will be placed on a recommendation list for probation for the following year.
6. All appeals regarding absences will be referred to the 6789 State Honors Choir Supervisor, whose decision will be final.

Fees

Regional Honors Choir Fee: $15.00 per student.  Member educators (directors) must register students.
