Michigan Youth Arts Festival Solo & Ensemble Soloists Eligibility Directors wishing to have their grades 10-12 students considered for MYAF must indicate their interest by signing the Invoice/Signature Form on the State Solo & Ensemble registration form. To be considered for MYAF, a soloist must:
Selection
Performance Twelve soloists will be chosen to perform the same compositions from State Solo & Ensemble at the mandatory Vocal Solo Finals Recital. These students will perform at a Vocal Solo and Ensemble Recital. The top soloist selected by the judges at the Vocal Solo Finals Recital will perform at the Gala Concert. The runner-up soloist will perform at the Welcoming Celebration. It is not required that MYAF solo audition selections have an orchestral accompaniment. It is an option for the Gala Concert soloist. Directors are required to provide accompanists for their singers. Soloists without accompanists will not perform. Festival Instructions Soloists and their directors will receive instructions regarding:
A letter of congratulations will be mailed to each solo finalist, his/her director, principal and superintendent. A plaque will be presented to soloists. Small Ensemble Directors of Small Ensembles interested in MYAF consideration must sign the Invoice/Signature on the State Solo & Ensemble registration form. The MYAF adjudicator at a State Solo & Ensemble Festival will determine if a small ensemble meets the standards required for performance at the Solo & Ensemble Recital. Small Ensembles chosen for MYAF participation and their directors will receive instructions regarding:
A letter of congratulations will be mailed to each Small Ensemble finalist director, his/her principal and superintendent. Plaques will be presented to participating ensembles and each student will receive a certificate. Large Ensembles The MYAF adjudicator at a State Solo & Ensemble Festival may chose up to five Large Ensembles that meet the standards required for performance at the Solo & Ensemble Recital for consideration. The recordings of their performances will be forwarded to the adjudication supervisor for consideration by a listening panel who will chose up to fourteen ensembles for MYAF performance. Performance
